After forsaking academia to become a political
adviser in the City, Brian Landers has acquired
a wealth of experience of business and public
policy issues. Until recently a director
of the publisher Penguin he previously held
senior management positions with leading
British retailers Sainsbury's, Habitat,
W H Smith and Waterstone's.
His public appointments have included Finance
Director of H M Prison Service, Trustee of
the Royal Armouries and Deputy Chairman of
the Financial Ombudsman Service. In addition
he spent two years with a family planning
charity, worked for an insurance company
in Buenos Aires and an American multinational
in Amsterdam and was a management consultant
with Price Waterhouse. He is currently Treasurer
of the UK Section of Amnesty International
and an Audit Commissioner.
Brian has written on subjects as varied as
quangos, European affairs and House of Commons
committees and is a contributor to opendemocracy.net.
He has an MBA from London Business School.
